ABOUT

Speech Fewapy Records is a Birmingham based independent record label run by members of The Traps.
SPEECH FEWAPY RECORDS
The label was founded so the band could release their own EPs without the added constraints of external pressures forced upon them by music industry types or by God himself. 2009 saw the release of three EPs, ‘Luna’, ‘Elk’ and The Honey Drip’. All were released in download only formats and were all made available for free. The three EPs were downloaded a combined total of over 1,500 times.
2010 welcomed the arrival of two new additions to the Speech Fewapy Records roster in the shape of Greg Bird & Flaming Flame and Tom Peel. While maintaining the ‘Download For Free’ approach, the debut EP from Greg Bird & Flamingo Flame – ‘Shruburbia’, was released in April while Tom Peel’s ‘Tripple Click It’ EP landed in September. Both records were well received, achieving a collective total of nearly 800 downloads. Not bad for a pair of low key releases…
Further progress for Speech Fewapy Records is anticipated in 2011, with releases scheduled for all current artists. The Traps will release their debut LP in the summer, while Greg Bird & Flamingo Flame and Tom Peel respectively are set to build on the success of their debut EP’s with follow up releases nearing completion.
SPEECH FEWAPY RADIO
Speech Fewapy Records launched Speech Fewapy Radio in 2009. Speech Fewapy Radio is a series of podcasts recorded in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Charlottesville (Virginia, USA) and Montreal which are downloaded all around the world.
From January 2011, Speech Fewapy Radio will present a fortnightly show on Birmingham’s popular internet radio station – Rhubarb Radio.
SPEECH FEWAPY CLOTHING
White t-shirts emblazoned with the slogan ‘YOU NEED SPEECH FEWAPY’, have been synonymous with Speech Fewapy Records and it’s various channels since the label’s inception in 2009. By scribbling the slogan on plain white t-shirts and giving them to local bands to wear on stage, the t-shirts quickly sparked interest in the label, so much so that official prints were made available for sale through the label’s official website. They have been an integral in increasing awareness and the reputation of Speech Fewapy Records around Birmingham and the UK.
From September 2010, Speech Fewapy Clothing launched limited edition monthly t-shirt prints produced by guest designers, along with trucker caps and canvas bags.
